Early surgical treatment of pectoralis major tendon rupture: a case report.

چکیده
ABSTRACT Pectoralis major rupture is a relatively uncommon injury. It is often under- or misdiagnosed due to late presentation and the lack of obvious clinical signs. Timely diagnosis and treatment is crucial, as early surgical repair has been shown to improve functional and cosmetic outcomes. We report the case of a young patient who underwent surgical repair of a right pectoralis major rupture sustained during a fall while wakeboarding. At the one-year follow-up, he had achieved full range of right shoulder motion and returned to his previous level of sporting activities. KEY WORDS Pectoralis major, anterior axillary fold, suture anchor.

Surgical and nonsurgical treatment of total rupture of the pectoralis major muscle in athletes: update and critical appraisal
The complete rupture of the pectoralis major tendon is an uncommon injury but has become increasingly common among athletes in recent years. This may be due to a higher number of individuals taking part in high-impact sports and weightlifting as well as the use of anabolic substances, which can make muscles and tendons vulnerable to injury. In recent literature, there are only few recommendatio...
متن کاملChronic rupture of the pectoralis major muscle: report of two cases.
Rupture of the pectoralis major muscle is relatively rare. The authors present two cases of chronic rupture in which direct suturing was not possible; reconstruction was possible using a bone-patellar tendon autograft. They conclude that this surgical technique may be useful in some cases of chronic ruptures of the pectoralis major muscle in which direct tendon suturing is impossible.

متن کاملPectoralis major tendon rupture. Surgical procedures review.
Pectoralis major (PM) muscle is the powerful dynamic stabiliser of the shoulder that acts as a flexor, adductor and internal rotator. The rupture of the PM tendon is a relatively rare injury that was firstly described in a French boy by Patissier in 1822 and later, in 1861, by Letenneur who reported another similiar case. To date, over 200 cases have been published. In this article we describe ...
متن کاملAllograft reconstruction of chronic pectoralis major tendon ruptures.
In chronic pectoralis tendon tears, primary repair may not be possible and allograft reconstruction may be required. The goal of this study was to report the authors' experience with chronic pectoralis major tendon reconstructions using an Achilles tendon allograft in three military patients. Three consecutive patients presenting with chronic, complete pectoralis major tendon tears underwent re...
